In past summers, the Benvenuto Players have held POETRY EVENINGS.  It may sound dull but they are actually great fun – both to perform and to listen to.  The evenings always have a theme: for example

• Beginnings and endings: poems about different phases in people’s lives
• Love: comic and tragic poems
• Decisions, decisions: poems about the choices we have, have taken or need to make
• Journeys in time and space: poems about travelling physically or travelling through our lives.

Often funny, sometimes sad but which are all thought-provoking. Coupled with wine and snacks, the evenings have always been enjoyed by performers and audience alike.

And while we’re on the subject of Food and Drink, the Benvenuto Players has run MURDER MYSTERY EVENINGS where the audience are invited to act out parts, solve the clues and work out who dunnit, while enjoying good company, food and drink.

We have also hosted ONE MAN SHOWS, performed by professional actor Philip Kingscott. Usually held in a small, intimate theatre, these polished plays have always been well-supported.

And finally, over the years the Benvenuto Players has organised many EXCURSIONS for their members, including:

• To the opera in the Arena at Verona, coupled with sight-seeing in this very interesting old town
• Backstage tour at la Scala
• Viewing past productions on the Big Screen
• Exhibition at Mudec
• Barbecue
• Beach party
• Christmas Party
