MAKE-UP

Every actor has to wear make-up since under the bright stage lights, their facial features need to be enhanced, exaggerated or even changed.

But transforming a thirty year old into an old person isn’t easy and doing the reverse is even harder!

The audience needs to know what kind of person the actor is portraying, simply by the actor’s appearance.

This is where our make-up artists come in.

The director usually discusses what kind of character they want the actor to look like with the make-up artist.   The artist will then come up with some designs depending on the actor themselves and their role.

There is usually the possibility of trying the make-up for the principal characters during the rehearsals we have in the theatre before the show.
